About the Winona Volunteer Fire Department

Coming Soon

District Chief:

William E. Allen – began his firefighter service in 2011 as a rookie volunteer with the Troup VFD.  In 2014 his family returned to live in Winona, Texas where he grew up.  Since returning to Winona, Chief Allen served as a department lieutenant
for 2 years, a department captain for 2 years, the assistance Chief for 2 years and in August of 2020, in the height of the global pandemic, he took on the office of Fire Chief.

Chief Allen is Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, and Hazmat A&O certified through SFFMA. He also has certification and / or completed training in Vehicle Technician 1, Fire instructor, and Fire officer.

Chief Allen and his wife La’Kisha have five beautiful children.  During his “paid” hours he works as a professional diesel mechanic.

When asked about his philosophy for leadership and growth of the fire department, Chief Allen responded, “The best leader is the one who is willing to work along with the team”.

Yours in Service,

William Allen, Winona Volunteer Fire Chief
